I am blogging to share my Slimgenics story with others. If I can save just one person from joining and making the same mistake I have then this blog will be worth it. I'm guessing if your reading this you are trying to find information about Slimgenics in order to determine if it is right for you. Here is my experience. I have struggled with my wieght my whole life, I can't remember a time when I wasn't on a diet or watching what I ate. After having two kids I worked out joined Weight Watchers (WW) and was able to get the weight off. But then the summer ended and I was back to school. I could not find the time to workout with a full class schedule, working part-time and 2 kids. I gained 25 pounds. I of course felt horrible about myself and the way I looked that I considered going back to WW but with my busy schedule its hard to find the time for measuring and keeping track of points. So I heard the commercials on the radio advertising Slimgenics. I made my free consultation and the rest has been nothing but agony. When I went in for my consultation I advised the counsler that the reason I wasn't returning to WW was because my schedule was extremely busy and I didnt have time to measure and record everything I ate. I was told that I didn't need to worry about that with Slimgenics. Guess what I spend most of my day doing? That's right measuring food and recording it. But with Slimgenics not only do you have to record what your eating but you have to record the number of suppliments you are taking, the amount of water you are drinking, your salt intake, and even if you had a bowel movement. So what I think they should of said was "Don't worry thats nothing compared to what you have to record here." I was shocked at the price ($459.46) to lose only 25 pounds but I thought ok I'll give it a try. But that was just the start I then was told that I had to purchase their snacks or they won't guarentee my weight loss. But I was not to worry the boxes ranged from $10.50 to $16 a box and I needed two boxes a week. Come to find out that in order to get the snacks at $10.50 I needed to buy 100 boxes. Who has $1050 laying around to buy 100 boxes of snacks? Certainly not me. I ended up buying 20 boxes at $12.75 a box because they only give you one opportunity to buy in bulk or you have to pay $16 a box. Isn't that considerate of them. What sucks is that I had to choose all 20 boxes on the spot without starting the program, without knowing what I would like, and without knowing what would work with my schedule. Now I'm stuck with a bunch of boxes that I don't like but of course it's not their problem. I just need to buy more of what I like at $16 a box. Lovely. Now lets talk about the supplements. I hope you love to take lots of pills because if you do you'll be in heaven. Currently, I take 19 pills a day. Easy to remember. I'm almost out of one of the supplements and I was given the option to buy one months worth for $40 or three months for $120. Cause I haven't given them enough money. Can't wait to see how much it will cost when I have to buy the others. The program is so strict unlike WW that it is really hard to stick to the plan. They say that they introduce all foods back once you hit your goal but how long will that take. In the mean time plan on becoming accustomed to hunger pains. If you really want to learn how to eat right without taking a million pills a day and breaking the bank Weight Watchers is a much better program.

  1. Couldn't disagree more. I went through the program, and lost over 70 pounds. Their snacks are expensive, but 5 minutes online and you find the same products for less. Both bars and protein shakes is EASY to find alternatives. Just match nutrition values. The other supplements are similar to regular fish oils, regular multi vitamins. Everything that you need for the program is readily available if you take the time to look. Personally, I already took fish oil and vitamins, so there is really no additional cost. The snacks do cost extra, but think about the food you were eating in place of those snacks. I bet in the long run its not spending too much more.

As far as measuring things... how many times do you need to cut up chicken to know what 6 oz looks like? Or 4oz of ground beef/turkey. If you are busy, eye ball it. Units of measure are what they are...if you are off .2 oz you will live, and you will still lose weight.

I have been off of the program for over a year and still use the things I learned there... and yes, I even still buy protein bars similar to what they use. Losing weight is not easy, and keeping it off is even harder.

Programs aren't for everyone, and I am not saying this to attack you by any means, but you have to work to lose weight and to keep it off. If measuring chicken keeps me thin, then I'll pay attention to portion control. If taking supplements keeps me around to see my grandkids, then I'll take them. If you want easy, save up and get lipo. But in the meantime dont sway people away from something that is a relatively easy way to lose weight. Easy... if you want to bust your ass to accomplish your goals.

    1. Melane - check www.familybariatric.com. They have a lot of the same ones and you can choose aspartame free on some of them which I would recommend.

    1. I'm at slimgenics now and want to quit. I'm dairy and gluten free and their limited bars ect make it so hard to do their diet and feel good.

    2. I am in the same spot. Signed up after success years ago when it was Slim4Life. But, I regret my decision as soon as I got home with a huge box of snacks that were exorbitantly expensive only to read the unhealthy ingredients in them like Aspartame (carcinogenic), corn syrup, fructose and chemicals. Yikes!! I am dairy and gluten free and discussed with the salesperson that I eat organic and fresh whole foods. She never once commented on this before I got stuck with their no return policy once you cart it out the door. I tried to swap the worse offenders for the snacks that had the least amount of harmful ingredients with the manager and she said the district manager would call me and I'm still waiting for that call. I was forced to cart these cancer causing snacks back home as they would not let me leave them there.

  4. I've just started and am doing great. I also thought the same about buying or using supplements I already have in place of their overpriced ones. Yes the cost is high but so worth it.

  6. I began with Slimgenics almost a year ago April...very frustrating, expensive, and we seem to never have the same tech to speak with , irritating to restate everything you spoken to them many many times previously however I will tell you...if you're hormones are not balanced....it will be a huge struggle as I have experienced. They are NOT DOCTORS and cannot assist you with any hormone imbalances or thyroid issues...since I have my thyroid leveled out, I have seen the weight begin to come off...SLLLOOOOWWWWLLLLY!!! Just hit my 20#'s, but then still gain it and loose it!! You must eat all the food for this to work, I have struggled with NOT being hungry...then you must force yourself to eat it...the veggies are the hardest. The price of the supplements and snacks are stupid outragous..but did a little bit of research, as I could not afford to keep going with the pricing of the products..it is very expensive…although I have not hit my foal weight I will begin the Balance Program at the end of April..as I will NOT purchase any more weeks for the weight loss.

I have began purcahsing many supplements from Andrew Lessman (amazon.com or HSN.com) such as the following:
    • Omega 3,
    • Fibermucil (ensulate),
    • Calcium-Magnesium Intensive Care(Slim assist)
    • Essential 1 daily vitamin (vita slim)
    • Digest Assure (slim assure)
    • Ultimate Friendly Flora (slim guardian)

    • Thermocaps (Orange Herbs) – from www.bariatricpal.com – Doctors Choice Thermocaps
    • Carb Trap (Alpha slim) – from www.bariatricpal.com – Doctors Choice CARBTRAP
    • Thremoburner (green herbs)- from www.bariatricpal.com – Doctors Choice Thermoburner

Thermocaps would be the orange herbs (and have the same ingredients and smell exactly the same in the container) and the Thermoburner would be the green herbs (I believe)..I don't see an option for the pura caffiene-free herbs) still looking. I have not found a replacement for the slim-repair shakes either, but still looking and researching as well.

I still purchase the Thermoboost when they are on special with the clinic

If you sign up for a subscription on the items you really need you can save 15% and free ship over $69..I have some of them shipped in monthly, others every three months...
If you sign up as a new member you can also receive the 15% off…you don’t have to subscribe, but it sure makes it easy..you can adjust the monthly shipment, change items or cancel at any time

I love the lemon-meringue bars and the BBQ crisp o's and have located them at https://www.bariatricfoodsource.com

Hope this info helps someone out there, wish I would have researched a bit more before signing up....

  9. I lost weight and am very grateful for it. I do not force food down when not hungry. I find this idea just silly. If you are not hungry, I don't eat much.

I luv their lemon bars but now buy snacks through Wonderslim. They are better and less expensive. I discovered they don't know their supplements at all. They just sell what's in front of them. I asked how many milligrams was in the omega supplement. They had NO clue. If you need something for a serious medical reason, don't use them. Remember: they are not FDA approved.
